Where did the Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand Facebook page go?
The Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand Facebook page no longer exists.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand had two main Facebook pages – Amazing Thailand (in English) – and – Sukjai Thailand (in Thai). Both Facebook pages were worthless as far as promoting Thailand using social media. And, both sites blocked me from commenting due to calling them out on theft of intellectual property (stealing photos daily).
But, now, the Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand page seems to have disappeared (or taken down?). Sukjai Thailand used to post religiously at 0900, 1200, and 1700 daily – usually with photos (and sometimes a link to the photo – but – most likely no authorization) and most of the time it would be a picture of food.
Well, I happened to notice that I had not seen a Facebook post from the Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand page in a while so did some investigating. I did a search for “Sukjai” and found a Sukjai Thailand page, but it just didn’t look the same. And, I was allowed to comment and upload photos and videos. This was definitely strange – since the Tourism Authority of Thailand definitely does not like me.
I then did some checking on old posts here on this blog and notiiced a distinct difference int he two pages.
The original Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand Facebook page URL was https://www.facebook.com/sukjaithailand.tat and the newer one is https://www.facebook.com/sukjaithailand.
Now, at the new Sukjai Thailand Facebook page, I am not sure if this is an official Tourism Authority of Thailand page. There is no indication that this is an official Thai Government Facebook page. I do know that is has way fewer followers – the original Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand Facebook page screen shot is from a post I did in June 2011 – you can see it here – Sukjai Thailand Continues to Violate Copyright Law. On that page on the day I took the screen shot, there were 7,772 followers (friends). The current Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand Facebook page has 474 followers (friends) as of 14 December 2011 (you can even see my photos).
Now, the “new” Sukjai Thailand Facebook page has links and references to Amazing Thailand’s Facebook page but nothing that points to the thailandtourism.org site or any other indication that it is an official Tourism Authority of Thailand page.
There are a bunch of photos of the rodent Sukjai, mostly with food, and also numerous images that are advertisements to other web scam sites, work-at-home schemes, etc. But, all this indicates is that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (if this really belongs to them) doesn’t monitor the page and allows all kinds of crap to be posted there.
But, the $64,000 question is – Where did the original Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand Facebook page, with close to 8,000 followers (friends) go?
I can’t see the Tourism Authority of Thailand just take down or delete a social media page with over 7,000 followers. That would make absolutely no sense. Also, i saw nothing on the Tourism Authority of Thailand Amazing Thailand Facebook page indicating that the Sukjai Thailand Facebook page had been retired, taken down, deleted, whatever.
So, did the Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand Facebook page get busted for Intellectual Property theft? As much as they did it, and as many folks that I notified that their photos were stolen, it is my hope that that was the case.
But, I most likely will never know what happened to the Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand Facebook page – but I do know – that he original page is LONG GONE.
