Strange things happening today at the Tourism Authority of Thailand Facebook pages.

I don’t know what is going on with the Tourism Authority of Thailand TAT ContactCenter and TAT Pattaya Facebook pages today.

Tourism Authority of Thailand TAT ContactCenter Speaks English

This morning the Tourism Authority of Thailand TAT ContactCenter Facebook page made a post in English – for the first time. I just had to comment (since they haven’t banned me yet).

Here is the text of the mini-conversation in case you cannot read the above.

TAT Contact Center   Hi Good morning Thursday!!!~ The long weekend has come, It’s a good thing haha, Are you guys planning on the holiday? Come on, share your trip w/us…. LoL ^^

So, the Tourism Authority of Thailand TAT Contact Center can speak English and even give smart ass answers. I wonder why their web site is all in Thai. Oh yeah, they don’t like Foreigners.

You can see that the Tourism Authority of Thailand English post was just an anomaly and they are back to posting only in the Thai language.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand TAT Pattaya Facebook page decided today that the way to attract tourists to Pattaya is to surf the videos at Youtube and post a video from James Blunt – Stay the Night – a song about CALIFORNIA.

Here is what TAT Pattaya posted to go along with the video followed by a Google translation:

I took my leave with the ocean at Pattaya is.

Number one – Pattaya is NOT California – not even close. Ever see anyone surfing in Pattaya? Anyone actually stupid enough to go in the polluted waters of Pattaya?

Number two – Pattaya is nowhere near an ocean. This may have something to do with the Google Translation – maybe it cannot discern between ocean and gulf. I don’t know.

But, I do know that it is a complete waste of time and taxpayer’s baht for a Thai Government Agency, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, to post a video on their TAT Pattaya Facebook page that has absolutely nothing to do with tourism in Thailand.

But, this is what the Tourism Authority of Thailand does instead of attracting foreign tourists to Thailand.

Lastly, it seems that the Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Thailand has created a new page and actually invited me to join!!! This page’s URL is facebook.com/sukjaithailand and the older one that does’t like me anymore is facebook.com/SukjaiThailand.tat

I don’t know why a new page was created and one that looks like an individual’s page – not a business/government agency. But we shall see what the Tourism Authority of Thailand plans to do with it.
