<h1>Tourism Authority of Thailand stealing some outdoors photos.</h1>
<h2>Once again, Sukjai Thailand, the Facebook page of the Tourism Authority of Thailand has stolen photos off the Internet.</h2>
<p><span id="more-3356"></span></p>
<h3>The Tourism Authority of Thailand obviously doesn&#8217;t know anything about the law, copyright, and intellectual property, as they give photo credit to Google.  This was only done because on their previous album they stole (8 photos) they were asked if the photos belonged to them.  They gave credit to Google.  I posted below that stating that they stole 8 photos from 8 different sites.</h3>
<p>As of the time of this posting, my comments remain on the Tourism Authority of <a href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/thailand_hotels" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='Thailand Hotels';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Thailand</a> Sukjai Thailand Facebook page as well as the question about who owns the photos. They aren&#8217;t even capable of removing damaging posts.</p>
<p>Here is the Facebook post/album from Sukjai Thailand &#8211; <b>Tourism Authority of Thailand</b> with at least 3 of 4 stolen photos.</p>
<div id="attachment_3358" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/image00114.png"><img class="size-medium wp-image-3358" title="Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Facebook Album" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/image00114-300x168.png" alt="Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Facebook Album" width="300" height="168" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Tourism Authority of Thailand Sukjai Facebook Album</p></div>
<p>I was only able to find 3 of the 4 photos and have other things to do besides try to track down every photo stolen by the Authority of Thailand.</p>
<p>Photo 1 is from <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="Amarit Tour Limited Partnership" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.vantourrist.com/vana.html" target="_blank">Amarit Tour Limited Partnership</a></p>
<p>Photo 2 is from one of the following sites &#8211; <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="pateaw.thde.com" rel="nofollow" href="http://pateaw.thde.com/-View.php?N=15" target="_blank">pateaw.thde.com</a>, <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="market.mthai.com" rel="nofollow" href="http://market.mthai.com/product/275941" target="_blank">market.mthai.com</a>, <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="jackkycan.blogspot.com" rel="nofollow" href="http://jackkychan.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">jackkychan.blogspot.com</a>.  I do not know which site is the copyright holder, but it looks like there are plenty of thieves stealing this photo.</p>
<p>Photo 3 is from <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="learners.in.th" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.learners.in.th/blog/gossipbydavid/413381" target="_blank">learners.in.th</a></p>
<p>The Tourism Authority of <a href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/thailand_hotels" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='Thailand Hotels';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Thailand</a> is going to get called on their thefts more and more as more people are starting to pay attention to how they do business.</p>

<h1>Khon Kaen Songkran honoring ancestors.</h1>
<h2>Songkran officially started yesterday, April 13th, and it was time for the family to visit a local temple and honor the family ancestors. Food was prepared to present to the Buddhist monks and some other gifts were purchased.</h2>
<p><span id="more-2476"></span></p>
<h3>The family got together at our house at about noon for Songkran and we had lunch of fried pork and sticky rice.  After lunch, it was off to the temple &#8211; Wat Pha Chai Wan.</h3>
<div id="attachment_2477" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1071.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2477" title="Songkran Khon Kaen Wat Pha Chai Wan" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1071-300x200.jpg" alt="Songkran Khon Kaen Wat Pha Chai Wan" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Songkran Khon Kaen Wat Pha Chai Wan</p></div>
<p>This marks the third year I have participated in this <a href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/thailand_hotels" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='Thailand Hotels';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Thai</a> tradition in Khon Kaen during <b>Songkran</b>.  It is always nice to get with the family and go to the temple.</p>
<p>When we went last year, the head Abbot was the monk that my mother-in-law wanted to see and give her offering to.  This year, she has had a change of heart and has found a different Buddhist monk at the same temple that is more to her liking.  He was very friendly and we had a nice little chat before the ceremony started.  He even offered a chair for me to save my old knees.</p>
<div id="attachment_2478" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_0991.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2478" title="Buddhist Monk Wat Pha Chai Wan Songkran Khon Kaen" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_0991-300x200.jpg" alt="Buddhist Monk Wat Pha Chai Wan Songkran Khon Kaen" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Buddhist Monk Wat Pha Chai Wan Songkran Khon Kaen</p></div>
<p>After introductions and a little chit-chat, my mother-in-law got down to business.  She wrote down the names of all the deceased in the family and presented it to the monk.</p>
<div id="attachment_2479" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 210px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1026.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2479" title="Buddhist Monk With List of Deceased Family Members" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1026-200x300.jpg" alt="Buddhist Monk With List of Deceased Family Members" width="200" height="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Buddhist Monk With List of Deceased Family Members</p></div>
<p>A couple of prayers and chants later, he read off the names, one by one.  More prayers and time to burn the list.</p>
<div id="attachment_2480" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 210px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1048.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2480" title="Buddhist Monk Burning List of Family Member Names" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1048-200x300.jpg" alt="Buddhist Monk Burning List of Family Member Names" width="200" height="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Buddhist Monk Burning List of Family Member Names</p></div>
<p>It was then time for the Buddhist monk to bless all of us with a sprinkling of holy water.  This was as wet as I got on <i>Songkran</i>.</p>
<div id="attachment_2483" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 210px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1061.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2483" title="Buddhist Monk Preparing to Sprinkle Holy Water" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1061-200x300.jpg" alt="Buddhist Monk Preparing to Sprinkle Holy Water" width="200" height="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Buddhist Monk Preparing to Sprinkle Holy Water</p></div>
<p>The ceremony finished, we chatted a little more with the monk.  He was very soft spoken and took the time to talk to all of us.  Finished here, and time to go outside to build some sand stupas.</p>
<p>Almost everyone that comes to the temple for <u>Songkran</u>, builds a small stupa out of sand as another way to show respect and honor their family.  There is a big pile of sand and some buckets and small colored flags on sticks to help build your sand stupa.</p>
<div id="attachment_2481" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1106.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2481" title="Wat Pha Chai Wan Sand Stupas" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1106-300x200.jpg" alt="Wat Pha Chai Wan Sand Stupas" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Wat Pha Chai Wan Sand Stupas</p></div>
<p>My brother-in-law did most of the work, but we all added our own personal touch.</p>
<div id="attachment_2482" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1114.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2482" title="Chaiyasit Family Sand Stupa" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1114-300x200.jpg" alt="Chaiyasit Family Sand Stupa" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Chaiyasit Family Sand Stupa</p></div>
<p>Annual tradition during Songkran was finished and it was time for me to wander around the temple and the temple grounds a bit.</p>
<div id="attachment_2484" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1076.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2484" title="Lord Buddha Statue at Wat Pha Chai Wan" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1076-300x200.jpg" alt="Lord Buddha Statue at Wat Pha Chai Wan" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Lord Buddha Statue at Wat Pha Chai Wan</p></div>

<p>As I wandered about, the family was busy with the lottery ticket sellers, looking for their lucky numbers.</p>
<div id="attachment_2486" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1120.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2486" title="Wat Pha Chai Wan Lottery Ticket Salesman" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1120-300x200.jpg" alt="Wat Pha Chai Wan Lottery Ticket Salesman" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Wat Pha Chai Wan Lottery Ticket Salesman</p></div>
<p>Lucky tickets purchased, it was time to load up the vehicles and head to the fish pond on the temple grounds.</p>
<div id="attachment_2487" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1130.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2487" title="Wat Pha Chai Wan Fish Pond" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1130-300x200.jpg" alt="Wat Pha Chai Wan Fish Pond" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Wat Pha Chai Wan Fish Pond</p></div>
<p>My wife purchased some fish food for 5 <a href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/thailand_hotels" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='Thailand Hotels';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Thai</a> baht per bag, and we fed the hordes of carp and catfish.</p>
<div id="attachment_2488" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1158.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-2488" title="Wat Pha Chai Wan Fish" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_1158-300x200.jpg" alt="Wat Pha Chai Wan Fish" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Wat Pha Chai Wan Fish</p></div>
<p>These fish definitely are well fed.</p>
<p>It was time to go on back home for some food and drink.  I managed to stay completely dry (other than the monk&#8217;s blessing) during the first day of Songkran!</p>

<h2>Almost every time that I ride my bicycle around the small Khon Kaen Lake near my house,  Beung Nong Khot, I see fishermen.  I see them with their fishing rods and reels, in small boats or rafts, sometimes floating on Styrofoam, or walking with a net and an inner tube wrapped around them.</h2>
<p><span id="more-1737"></span></p>
<h3>Today I saw something different in this small lake in Khon Kaen.  I saw ladies standing waist deep with bamboo poles and a large net attached.</h3>
<div id="attachment_1738" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/IMG_9578.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1738" title="Khon Kaen Lady Fishing" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/IMG_9578-300x229.jpg" alt="Khon Kaen Lady Fishing" width="300" height="229" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Khon Kaen Lady Fishing</p></div>
<p>I wasn&#8217;t surprised to see ladies fishing as I was to see the fishing device.  This is the first time I have seen this here in <b>Khon Kaen</b>.  I have seen it elsewhere, but never here.</p>
<p>There were 5 or 6 of these ladies angling away and then I saw the boss.  There was a pick-up truck with a male driver and he had about 6 big coolers sitting outside of his truck waiting for the catch.</p>
<div id="attachment_1739" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/IMG_9584.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1739" title="Lady Fishing Beung Nong Khot" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/IMG_9584-300x229.jpg" alt="Lady Fishing Beung Nong Khot" width="300" height="229" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Lady Fishing Beung Nong Khot</p></div>
<p>There was no chit-chatting here &#8211; just fishing.  This was business and these ladies were out to catch some fish.</p>
<div id="attachment_1740" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/IMG_9593.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1740" title="Lady Fishing Lake Nong Khot" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/IMG_9593-300x229.jpg" alt="Lady Fishing Lake Nong Khot" width="300" height="229" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Lady Fishing Lake Nong Khot</p></div>
<p>This style of fishing takes strength and patience.  Once you put out your net, you have to wait, and wait, and wait until the opportune time when you think. or can see, fish above the net.  Then, you have to quickly lift up your net and get your catch to shore.</p>
<div id="attachment_1741" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/IMG_9601.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1741" title="Lady Fishing and Waiting" src="http://www.khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/IMG_9601-300x229.jpg" alt="Lady Fishing and Waiting" width="300" height="229" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Lady Fishing and Waiting</p></div>
<p>The waiting is always the hardest.</p>
<p>Now, what do I call these <i>Khon Kaen</i> anglers?  Lady fishermen?  Fisherwomen?  Lady Anglers?</p>
<p>Whatever, they are hard working ladies, as this was at 0630 and they had already been there awhile.  Cheers to the Lady Anglers with their bamboo poles and nets in <u>Khon Kaen</u> on Beung Nong Khot.</p>

<p>After departing the <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://khonkaen.ws/chiang-khan-temples" target="_blank">Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge</a>, it was time to go to the market and get some food for dinner. <span id="more-974"></span>The Tha Li market is very close to the bridge and not a very big market.  But, the main thing is that the market is entirely food.  Fruits and vegetables, seafood, and meat were all packed into a small area.  And, of course there were some folks cooking their goodies on barbecues.</p>
<div id="attachment_975" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6591.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-975" title="Tha Li Market Vegetables" src="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6591-300x200.jpg" alt="Tha Li Market Vegetables" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Tha Li Market Vegetables</p></div>
<div id="attachment_976" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6605.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-976" title="Tha Li Market Barbecue" src="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6605-300x200.jpg" alt="Tha Li Market Barbecue" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Tha Li Market Barbecue</p></div>
<p>Once we had secured some interesting delicacies, we were on our way to Phra That Satja. This is a beautiful temple that houses what has to be one of the largest gongs in <a href="http://www.khonkaen.ws/thailand_hotels" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='Thailand Hotels';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Thailand</a>.</p>
<div id="attachment_977" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6559.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-977" title="Phra That Satja Gong" src="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6559-300x200.jpg" alt="Phra That Satja Gong" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Phra That Satja Gong</p></div>
<p>The temple grounds has a beautiful Sala and a small gift shop that has a preserved two-headed goat on display.  We didn&#8217;t have much time here as we were all getting hungry but I made Uncle Pong stop along the rode for some different angle shots.</p>
<div id="attachment_978" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6564.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-978" title="Phra That Satja From the Road" src="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6564-300x200.jpg" alt="Phra That Satja From the Road" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Phra That Satja From the Road</p></div>
<p>Uncle Pong drove the backroad along the Mekong River and my brother-in-law and cousin suffered the bumps and dust -but we got home in about 1/2 hour and then it was time to get dinner ready.</p>
<p>My brother-in-law, Em, took charge of cleaning the fish and preparing the rat.  Yes, rat.  But, not a dirty, disease infested rat from the big city.  This was a field rat and supposedly it tastes like chicken.</p>
<div id="attachment_979" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6628.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-979" title="Barbecue Fish and Rat" src="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6628-300x200.jpg" alt="Barbecue Fish and Rat" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Barbecue Fish and Rat</p></div>
<p>The ladies whipped up the rest of the food &#8211; vegetables, somtam, sticky rice, and more.</p>
<div id="attachment_980" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="highslide" onclick="return vz.expand(this)" href="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6635.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-980" title="Dinner at Uncle Pong's House" src="http://khonkaen.ws/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/IMG_6635-300x200.jpg" alt="Dinner at Uncle Pong's House" width="300" height="200" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Dinner at Uncle Pong&#39;s House</p></div>
<p>The long day was just about done except for a little more Singha drinking.  Needed to get some sleep as the morning would bring some more photos of <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://kaenchiangkhan.com" target="_blank">Chiang Khan</a> and some <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://www.beepdig.com" target="_blank">metal detecting</a> on the Mekong River.</p>

<p>Rainy season continues with rain off and on all day and night. <span id="more-540"></span>Today, when the rain stopped, I took the dogs outside to get some fresh air and was surprised to find some seafood on the driveway and street.  Guess they came up from the sewers.</p>
