Azolla (Mosquito Fern) photo stolen by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Yesterday evening, the Tourism Authority of Thailand was at it again switching from food to ferns in their effort to steal every photo on the Internet.
Now, what this has to do with attracting tourists to Thailand is beyond me. I guess that the Tourism Authority of Thailand is touting a greener Thailand.
Part of the text in the Facebook post, the Tourism Authority of Thailand stole from their favorite source – Wikipedia.
And, the photo came from this forum post at th.dojak.net – scroll down a bit and it actually links to the original photo at Flickr.
If you take the time to read the rights under the Creative Commons license, you will see that it is OK to download and use the photo – IF – the site is non-commercial and you must attribute the work to the owner. TAT is not non-commercial and, as always, doesn’t give credit to the owner.
Every day (except maybe on the weekends when they are out shopping), the Tourism Authority of Thailand, both the Sukjai Thailand and the Amazing Thailand Facebook pages, steal other people’s photos and text. As a Thai Government Agency, TAT sets a poor example for the people of Thailand. TAT should be promoting tourism, not stealing photos.
Another day and more thefts of intellectual property by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
