It is 21 November 2010 and a Thai holiday – Loy Krathong – celebrated in Khon Kaen and throughout the kingdom of Thailand.  This is a day when the ladies dress in their finest traditional Thai clothes and float a krathong in the lake, river, or sea.Google even got into the spirit and their logo today (at least in Thailand) was made of krathongs.

There will be celebrations nationwide, including here in Khon Kaen

This picture is from this morning during my daily bicycle ride around Beung Nong Khot in Khon Kaen:

There will be lots of food and adult beverages and song and dance.  It will definitely be a party in Khon Kaen.  I will stay home and avoid the traffic and possible danger my wife warned me about.  She told me that nearly every year there is a shooting or stabbing during the festivities.  So, discretion is the better part of valor.

The real reason for this post is to provide an update on the Khon Kaen house.

The weather continues to be gorgeous so that means the crew can work without breaking a sweat.  They continue to work on the interior and the exterior simultaneously.  Walls are being plastered, floor tiles laid, molding/trim around the outside of the house, and making the wall higher.

They have been sticking to the original house plan – drawn up by an architect friend here in Khon Kaen – with some minor modifications that my wife has made.

I think this Khon Kaen house of ours will reason for the other property owners on the same small street to start building also so that we won’t be the only house on the block.

So, the house on the Soi with no name yet, near the Khon Kaen Airport, continues on.
