Does Anything Affect Tourism In Thailand?

Little Impact On Thailand Tourism

We now have floods in the south of Thailand, Koh Samui Airport closed and damaged, but according to the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT), there will only be limited and short-term impact.

Nakhon Si Thammarat Flood Tourism

Nakhon Si Thammarat Flood Tourism

I keep hearing the same old tune anytime there is some sort of event or crisis.  The Tourism Authority of Thailand and now the Tourism Council of Thailand must share the same rosy red sunglasses or are taking the same drugs.

Earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear power plants melting down and spewing radiation.  Little impact on tourism in Thailand.

Earthquake in New Zealand.  Little impact on tourism in Thailand.

Countries falling like dominoes in the Middle East. Little impact on tourism in Thailand.

Global economy. Little impact on tourism in Thailand.

Thailand’s political turmoil. Little impact on tourism in Thailand.

No matter what the tragedy anywhere in the world it will have little impact on tourism in Thailand.

And the Tourism Authority of Thailand will continue to publish bogus numbers of tourists in Thailand stating that the number exceeds whatever lie they told last year.

These organizations need to face reality.  Millions of people are out of work.  People don’t want to visit a country where they are continually hounded by vendors and face scams and rip-offs at every corner.

The Japanese are a little more concerned about rebuilding their country right now and don’t have time to come to Thailand to play golf.

People around the globe see the pictures, watch the videos, and read the news and forums about all the problems in Thailand, either man-made or caused by Mother Nature and don’t want to come here.

Toss into the mix, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and their lack of marketing skills and the inability to attract foreign tourists.  All they know how to do is market (poorly) to local Thais.

But, it doesn’t  matter. Little impact on tourism in Thailand.
