I had some money from the sale of a condo in Hawaii sent to my joint account in Michigan. This makes it easy for my mom or dad to get the bank to wire the money to me so we can get some land here in Khon Kaen.

However – first – mom and dad were told it would take 10-14 business days to clear the check.  I thought this was 2010 (or 2553) and things happen fast electronically. Isn’t this called “kiting a check”?

Anyhow, I gave mom the instructions for wiring the money to Thailand and she dutifully wrote it down. She also took it to the bank when she deposited the check.  The nice lady that mom has known for a long time placed it in a folder to hold for mom and said she would call when the check cleared.

No call received so mom and dad go to the bank on the day that the check is supposed to be cleared – and it was.

HOWEVER – the lady that mom gave the wire info to is no longer working at the bank.  WTF?

None of the other bank personnel can find my instructions that I gave to mom and  no one has any idea of how to make a phone call to Thailand.

So, when I called mom and dad to see if the wire was sent, I wound up giving dad the instructions all over again so he can go back tomorrow and try again.

Dad assured me he would hand copy his notes and keep one at home until I got the money.  I also gave dad dialing instructions to my mobile phone in case the bank needs something on the from that I didn’t provide.

Hopefully, I will get the money in a day or two and can start in on the land buying process.
