May 13, 2010 — Maj-Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol, better known as Seh Daeng, was shot and seriously wounded during a melee near Sala Daeng intersection on Rama IV road on Thursday night, hours after authorities threatened a lock-down of the rally site, official said. Kind of interesting the US, British, and Australian embassies closed early on Thursday and remain closed today (Friday). Did they know something was about to happen?
The Thai Government has also declared a state of emergency in 15 additional districts (including the one I am living in – Khon Kaen) – so maybe the early closures were just in anticipation that the feces were going to hit the fan.
Right now, the General is in critical condition and no one has been identified as the shooter.
My guess is this is an attempt to sever the snake’s head and hope the body dies along with it.
