Went to Bangkok last week to take care of some paperwork for me and my wife. The location to conduct this business was on Sathorn Road – JUSMAGTHAI. The Joint United States Military Advisory Group – Thailand. This is the same compound that I had to in-process way back in 1973 and it hasn’t changed at all – except there are a lot fewer military personnel working.
First stop was to get my JUSMAG ID card. This would allow easy access to the compound in the future. All I had to do was bring a 1″ X 1″ picture and it was done in about 2 minutes.
At the next door desk, it was time to get my wife here military dependent ID card. They took her picture, gathered some info and made her ID card and entered her into the military DEERS system. Another 5 minutes and done.
Next stop was at the Retirement Assistance Officer’s room. These guys work as volunteers 3 days per week and are there to help out the retirees and their spouses. Great bunch of guys and bend over backwards to help.
Last stop was at the APO where I applied for a PO box and picked up some mail I already had forwarded when I left Hawaii.
Was an easy morning and went smooth as Thai silk.
