Another Contest, Another Fail for the Tourism Authority of Thailand
I sure hope that the Thai Government doesn’t pay the people that occupy space at the Tourism Authority of Thailand. If they do, it is money wasted.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Amazing Thailand Facebook page, announced another contest yesterday. Posting the announcement and providing a link to a different site is perfectly fine and within Facebook Promotions Guidelines.
However, in the very limited rules, the Tourism Authority of Thailand states:

2. Announce 3 winners on May 9th, 2011. If the selected entrants do not respond to the e-mail notification within seven (7) days of the date of the first attempted contact, or if Sukjai Thailand is otherwise unable to contact the selected entrant within such time, the prize will be forfeited and another runner up will be selected. The names of the photo winners will be posted on Facebook Amazing Thailand
Making the announcement of winners on Facebook is a clear violation of said policy.
There are actually two contests at the same page.
One is to post a blog “story”, and the other, upload a photo. Both are supposed to be about summer. At least the Tourism Authority of Thailand has learned that one does not upload an entire blog, only a post (or story in this case)
Where the Tourism Authority of Thailand screwed up firstly is in the rules for the blog story. All they did was copy and paste paragraph 2 from the photo contest and added it to the blog contest. Or, I am missing something since it talks about photo winners and not blog story winners.
The next mistake that the Tourism Authority of Thailand makes is on the photo contest. Once you upload your photo, you can see it and also see how many points you have. Here you can see that there have been three photos uploaded and we all have 0 points.
The reason we all have zero points is there is no frigging way to vote. Absolutely brilliant!
Also brilliant are the rules
RULES AND CONDITIONS:
1.Submit a photo as you like (only 1 photo per 1 candidate)
Contest start: April 22nd, 2011
Contest deadline: Mid-day May 6th, 2011
It might be nice to tell the criteria and what constitutes a winner. If it is total number of votes (or Facebook Likes) for part of the score and judges for the rest or totally on votes (which no one can do), say so.
Either way, it is totally screwed up showing once again the level of incompetence at the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Another Fail.
I would tell them of their mistakes via Facebook, but the Tourism Authority of Thailand has seen fit to ban me from commenting.
