Another Missed Opportunity For The Tourism Authority Of Thailand

Another Missed Opportunity For The Tourism Authority Of Thailand

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) misses a great opportunity.

Did you know that there is a music festival being held in Bangkok next week?  Most likely you didn’t since the Tourism Authority of Thailand hasn’t promoted it on their Amazing Thailand Facebook page.

I just finished reading an article in The Nation, entitled Waka waka in the park, and it talks about this concert that is coming to Bangkok on June 4 and June 5. I haven’t seen any mention of the concert from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

The reference to “Waka waka” comes from the band, Freshlyground, that did the  song “Waka Waka, (This time for Africa)” with Shakira.  It was the theme song for the World Cup.

Along with this band from South Africa, Australia’s Maske Electric Strings Trio will be there playing classical and pop and Lisa Lavie from Canada will also perform.

Some other folks from South Africa will also perform along with Dutch born Frans Boem.

The bill of foreign acts will be rounded out by local artists Nanthida Kaewbuasai and Viva, Thailand’s first pop-opera band.

So, it looks like there will be something for everyone at a location that is ideal for walks in park, picnics, or nearby shopping – Suan Luang Rama IX Park.  But, no mention from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Too bad that hardly anyone knows about it since the Tourism Authority of Thailand chose not to promote it on Facebook.

If anything, the Tourism Authority of Thailand will announce it the morning of the event or post photos after the event has concluded and another opportunity to attract foreign tourists will go down the drain.
