Amazing Thailand Steals Breakfast

Amazing Thailand Steals Breakfast

The thieves at the Tourism Authority of Thailand are at it bright and early on a Monday morning.

Yes, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has stolen another photo – this one of breakfast.

This stolen breakfast photo is from the Amazing Thailand Facebook page of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

The original photo can be found at Pantip.com with a bunch of other breakfast photos.

Now, what this photo has to do with tourism is, again, beyond me.  Showing a plateful of unhealthy deep fried dough doesn’t seem like a very good way to attract tourists to Thailand.

The Amazing Thailand Facebook counterpart, Sukjai Thailand, has posted an equally worthless photo this morning – Ronald McDonald displaying the Thai traditional wai – and they have even watermarked the photo.

Ronald McDonald Thai traditional Greeting

Again, a worthless photo that will in no way attract tourists.  Why not have a photo of a Thai male or female (or both) showing how to properly wai?  No, the clueless marketing wizards at the Tourism Authority of Thailand think this is a way to attract tourists.

And, why the watermark?  Since the Tourism Authority of Thailand is a Government Agency, the photo is in the public domain (unless taken by a third party).  I am guessing that this is not a photo taken by a third party or they would have copyrighted it – not Sukjai Thailand.

So hypocritical – the Tourism Authority of Thailand steals photos left and right, and puts a watermark on a public domain photo.  We are the Thai Government, and we can do anything we want!

Just more clueless posts and worthless photos on Facebook posted by the marketing geniuses at the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
